I'm looking to reduce the box count when I retire next year. Now I know that, especially for me, is a long way off, but always being a valve fan I like the look of the transistor Manger-audio active monitors. I shall have to be very active to be able to afford them! So, has anyone had the pleasure, or misfortune, of having heard these at a show, as they are only sold by the importer. If you have can you remember what preamp was being used and what did you think of the set up?

Satin, or satan, slate coloured. The extra transducer is for extra bass.

I'm pretty sure I heard the ones with the tweeter in the middle at a Heathrow show, and they were bloody awful. It was a show, though.

I've heard speakers with those Manger bending wave drivers several times at Shows - they can have excellent clarity and control but there always seems to be an emphasis in the sibilance / top-end region. I don't think I could live with them. :?

Never heard that model, but have heard the Manger driver several times, both in commercial products and also as a driver for project and prototype work.

It's a mixed bag IMO - brings the benefits of point source but it's distortion performance is bettered by good conventional drivers and it always sounded a bit muddled and lifeless - as if too damped.

That was a few years ago though so perhaps its been further developed. It's a nice idea.
