I made the lead shortly after you left and connected everything up. The noise is reduced but still there, I'm pretty sure it's coming from the TT side of things but it might be the power amps. Some playing about is in order.
The MF certainly sounds different to the Quad, less focussed in some respect but a lot more open. The speakers do not exist with this combo just some music. The soundstage goes further back with a better placement in the fore/aft direction.
Leading edges are more pronounced and the bass seems to be a bit tighter.
Obviously at the weekend I'll have a good listen and switch back to the Quad, but my initial reaction is that it is a lot better (never though I'd say that)
