Nice to meet you mate, thanks for bringing the Pre over.

I made the lead shortly after you left and connected everything up. The noise is reduced but still there, I'm pretty sure it's coming from the TT side of things but it might be the power amps. Some playing about is in order.

The MF certainly sounds different to the Quad, less focussed in some respect but a lot more open. The speakers do not exist with this combo just some music. The soundstage goes further back with a better placement in the fore/aft direction.

Leading edges are more pronounced and the bass seems to be a bit tighter.

Obviously at the weekend I'll have a good listen and switch back to the Quad, but my initial reaction is that it is a lot better (never though I'd say that)

I only use a cdp at the moment, and an integrated.

I can't see me ever moving to that stage, I can't afford to better my TT with a CDP thats for sure.

Even Duvet was impressed with the vinyl sound, it may be a problem for him as he seemed like he wanted a TT

That's one comment I won't disagree with.

That combo is indeed a Music Maker of the highest order that simply plays the music as it should be played and on that note.........................

The highest praise yesterday was after I played the first tune to Duvet he said "I've got to be honest I stopped listening to the equipment after about 10 seconds"

It's all about the music.

Danny, you are working in the City.. long hours, stress.. you DESERVE those Weggs. SHE doesn't understand the pressure you are under. If you don't buy them all that money you spent on th CD player and Amps could be wasted,, you would never truly hear them.. She must understand.
