I cant be the only one that notices that HFC never seem to feature or even mention and kit from Audio Note but why is it? AN have a lot of fans on this forum and rightly so in my opinion, so why the lack of coverage in a UK hifi publication like HFC?

Cant comment on the other hifi rags as I dont read them. HFC though, I have been reading for many years...

I've always perceived HFC as more attuned to the mainstream plug and play type audiophile. The Rega, Cyrus, Naim, Cambridge type buyer.

Upmarket and audio version of WHF if you like.

More likely to find AN kit in something like World or HFN.

When Jason Kennedy was there they were featured all the time back on the dayBut since they are now owned by My Hobby store and under the mentor ship of Paul Miller

I think the dynamic between he and PQ is strained

As Paul tends not to want to incorporate "old technology" in the magazine

It's hardly surprising that we don't see subjective reviews on AN kit
Yes good point. HFN does seem quite focussed on new and upcoming designs, relegating older tech to the back of the mag in the vintage section or regular contributor pages. Probably see some of vintage AN kit there at some point.

Interesting point but seems at odds with what I have read in HFC - seems to be plenty of TTs, carts and phonostages, as well as valve amps reviewed/featured.

At first I thought it was to do with availability of kit to be demo'd by joe public but then I see Icon Audio reviewed quite a few times so that cant be it.

Must be, as you say, to do with strained relations.

Shame really, as I think AN does deserve more praise/attention in the mags as its very fine sounding kit IMO.

And they won't make their prices public.
Be buggered if I can understand why the hell they do that. :dunno:

I've noticed a decent dealer recently that has "POA at manufacturer's request" on their website for any AN product. I don't understand the logic either.

We (well, I) covered the AN TT Two a while back, we covered the Zero components and one of the beautiful systems in late 2012 was a full Audio Note one (and bloody marvelous it was too) but the company doesn't seek publicity and as such anything we do is us seeking them out rather than vice versa. This will always place limits on how often you see their kit in the magazine.
