How many times have you said, “thats it, I am there. This is the best sound I can get?”

For me I am on number 4. The forth time I have decided that this is the best I can get, for my room, for my budget, for my sanity. I really think that this time…no4 Or is it 5...I have achieved my audio Nirvana. So tomorrow I am going to listen to another set of speakers, just in case. Ill probably buy them, because I have the amp to go with them and I have been looking for these speakers for a while. So where do I go from here? Do I stop buying, listening to other kit…nope. I make another full setup. My smallest system is making me laugh at the moment, very enjoyable. Not compared to my main system, but a completely different take on the music. For a few hundred quid could I live with it if it was my main system, yes absolutely. All of the above makes us Wammers. Onward and upward.

Number 2 for me, but this is a strong number 2!

Yet, I still want to try a DCS Bartok with my new setup. I'll never be able to afford one though, but it may convince me that what I have is bloody brilliant how it is and I dont need it.

Or it may give me number 3 lol

Never, not with mixing, mastering, production, programming or audio reproduction equipment 'hi-fi'.
Saying that I have heard a few systems at shows and 'Wammers homes though that have made me sit back and blown me away, sadly well beyond the reach of my wallet, some of @George 47 systems especially.

I've never said 'this is the best I can get'. Each time I've moved house and had an excuse to revamp things I knew there was possibly better/improvements, but I settled for what I had set up. Mainly because it is quite good and I have other stuff to do. When people come here and I put music on they always say it sounds good, so I know what I have is better than how the average person is listening. I'm not a perfectionist.

Never ... prefer to make sideways / gentle climbs upwards rather than splash the cash to get a dream system. Quite like the variety and the quality is good enough.

I don’t think there ever is a “best” sound .
We are all looking for that “something “ that pleases our ears and eyes and budget restrains ..Limited mainly by the environment and lifestyle..
It’s been very rare to listen to a system that makes your hairs stand up . But it has happened. BUT A LOT OF IT WAS DUE TO PARTICULAR RECORDINGS and not the system par-se …..
nirvana as a concept is different for everyone as are cars and loved ones .
Sound and beauty is in the ears and eyes of the beholder …
We have a “nice “ sounding system that befits our lifestyle. Could it be better ? Absolutely it could , but do I need it to be ?
NO !!!
Now that’s not “nirvana “it’s being contented with what we have ..
The same as I’m contented with life itself .. …..

I have lived in the same property for over 40 years, my sound system has slowly evolved during this time period, True it is sounding the best I have experienced in all that time, is it the ultimate, probably not.
