Don't know is it hotter today? for the first time in owning them the Meridian 557's both have dropped out on temperature, dammed inconvenient especially when shmbo is out and i've got the remote control.

Hi Simon,

It sure is warm out, reading 30 in my car driving back from yours.

I'm lucky enough to have air con so my kit is nice and chilled. Could be worth looking into as you could keep the windows closed and not get roasted even on a not so warm day. Your 557's probably heat the room a fair bit on their own.

My valve gear is hotter than Satan's farts. It doesn't seem to care, but I'm sweating a bit...

Since changing the power amp to solid state, no problem at all :^

Plus I'm actually in the garden with the back door open with the music in the background. BBQ far more important :D

It does take a special kind of sadomasochism to listen to class A valve gear in this weather. Not that the heat has affected it at all.

Up here I'm more worried about the dampness in the air not the heat.

It's been repositioned for super near field listening. So I can have the tunes on and the windows open without bothering the neighbours. Currently using a pair of Spendor A6's as headphones.

I could fry an egg on the M-DAC, but other than that, no heat issues.

Kit's fine, 4-way active horns with 2 class-A valve amps, A class-A solid state and a fairly richly biased class-AB amp means I'm not so good.

Perfect, apparently.

I have a mixture of valves and class A in a rack with not much air space, so I run several 12v computer fans (at 5v to make them silent). These come on with the amps, so the extra heat recently hasn't caused any problems. Mind you, I'm stuck indoors convalescing so it's definitely affected me. It's made me spend £2300 on new hifi!

As I've mentioned in another thread, my 700ES is not comfortable in this heat. Windows open at all times, sorry neighbours! Kidding, I am not that inconsiderate, volume is moderate...

It was too hot to use the system. The 845 valve in class A does produce some heat.

Great for winter but not for this time of year.

The Ming da MC7R has no apparent problems with heat neither has the Croft phono, as for the Atlas Magnum it sits in a corner shadowed by one of the OT Quad 57's so I have a pair of 12v computer fans in a metal frame running off a variable voltage wall wart set at 6v to slow & quiet fans they are 10" above the Atlas pulling air up so far no problems other than our well insulated flat is noticeably warm.

Never mind the hifi, the Panny Plasma telly is doing a great impression of a radiator in the midst of winter.
