It's just one man's opinion, and not one I share in all cases...

HiFi Trade?
  1. Yes
Oh dear! My Rotel amp and the olive naim gear is high end, but the Victor CDP and Dynaudio speakers are not.

I'm not entirely sure that's how I'd have split them...

Nothing i own is high-end imo. High-end is whatever is unattainable to the individual - in my case Kondo, Weiss, Wavac, MBLetc

hmm. That wiki certainly lacks distinction, and is a clearly an American point of view. NAD high end but no mention of MF?

"Electrocompaniet, widely recognized as one of the top five high-end manufacturers."

Which are the other four?!

Not perfect no.

The good news is that anyone can edit a Wikipedia entry. I've done it in the past when I've spotted the odd clanger.

High end, to me, is cost no object 'statement' stuff. Cost is an object to me so mine is distinctly normal-end.

Also, IMO high-end doesn't necessarily mean good. I think some of what I describe as high end is bobbins, just pure hi-fi and no expression.
