Well I still holding out hope that Jaguar can be saved from the claws of Kia or worse death!

Latest shot of interior doesnt exactly blow you away though:

Looks ok but the switch gear is straight from the latest Mondeo/S-Max.

Still think it could be a handsome beast, if not the stunner is once promised

Maybe it just me but there is a hint of Audi (A6)in both the interior and exterior profile.

I hope its going to be a winner but Im not so sure.

XKF was a lightweight coupe concept - this is XF, the S-Type replacement....

Makes more sense -Mondeo with Jag badges (and price tag) - not necessarily a bad thing of course...

Justhope Jag will drop the over-fussy styling that's afflicted so many recent cars...

I thought the mondeo clone was the FWD X-type? S-Type is RWD and a tad nicer than a mundano to drive!

It will be RWD, on a slightly stretched S-Type platform.

Engines will be 3.0 V6 petrol, 2.7 V6 diesel, 4.2 V8 petrol, 3.6 V8 diesel and an all-new 5.0 litre supercharged V8 in 2009.

S-type is based on a stateside ford. I know not which type.

And Jaguar have apparantly said that it will look quite similar to the concept that MIB posted.

its said to take styling cues from the older XJ's like the XJ12 and this XJ12C

more muscle and sporty than long distance cruiser (like the current XJ)

although it does have a passing resembelence to the Ford Iosis concept from the side....

Lord knows why they are bothering with a 3.6 V8 diesel, thats a feckin lorry engine FFS!!
Lotus Esprit S2's had a Bedford CF van engine in . So why not ??
Surely a 3.6 v8 diesel (with 2 turbos thrown on as well at a guess) is sort of missing the point of having a diesel engine in the first place?

Why? It will offer huge amounts of torque for easy driving and will be less thirsty than a similarly sized petrol engine. Oh and in Gibraltar Diesel is still cheaper than petrol which also helps

But surely the 2.7 will suffice for the tiny number of these which will get used as mini-cabs?

Spot on, my dad has the 2.7 in his current S-Type and its MORE than quick enough for a diesel, and when not towing it returns half decent MPG, if you go upto the 3.6 you might as well have the big petrol :?as if you can afford the car in the first place the difference in cost between petrol and diesel isnt really an issue!!

Cabin looks just as cramped and naff as the woeful S type.

Such a shame, as i am sure it would be a great car, had they provided somewhere comfy to sit.
