Hi,

I have just downloaded the trial of Jriver and have let it access my itunes files. The problem is that some albums such as Back to Mine are split into individual files or are in two blocks. How do I consolidate these into one album, the easy way?

I have spent half hour trying to figure it out. It seems it is a different way to iTunes (select all, CONTROL I, click "part of a compilation") easy.

Many thanks. Lee

PS. First impressions of Jriver is positive.

OR if you don't know what the heck, try FREE great Audacity and get back to digital basics ...

Is it worth analysing all songs to adjust the volume to the same? Or will this result in compression?
It won't result in dynamic compression, but will result in adjustment of the volume on a song-by-song basis so that songs play at a similar level. If you are after the best possible playback, stay away from this feature. But for background music, it's great.

That said, if you want to use this facility, don't scan your library with version 18 as this part of the program has been radically improved in version 19 so when you adopt version 19, you will need to run the entire scanning process again!

Thanks for the input. I will wait for the version 19 before purchase.

Version 19 is out but is still in early development. If you buy a licence now it will work with Version 18 or 19.

The mac version is going to be out a bit later, as I understand. Though it came as a surprise that it costs money to upgrade. I suppose it depends what the upgrades do. Has the music presentation changed with upgrades?

Sorry, didn't realise you were looking at the Mac version.

I'm on Windows and have upgraded through 16 to 18. I haven't noticed any difference in sound quality. There are more improvements in the video side of things. I reckon they sorted basic audio playback years ago. The main improvements in this area have been with room correction using Convolution.

I tend to wait for at least six months after release of the new version before upgrading. The JRiver development cycle is continuous. If you adopt the early builds of a new version there is a possibility of bugs and glitches.

Asking people to pay for the Mac upgrade to Version 19 was a bit cheeky to say the least, given that Mac 18 was no better than an Alpha release.
