I haven't gotten the Ekstatik yet. Was waiting for June 1 and a possible promotion. I can continue to wait as the kandid is still performing well.
@Ron.P , I don't think we've heard from you since the roughly 30 hours of run-in on the Ekstatik. How's it performing?

I am at THE Show in SoCal today and a Linn dealer is exhibiting. I asked about a special announcement for the 50th anniversary of the LP12 and he made the 'my lips are sealed' gesture but then told me the basics. Seems there will be a special edition LP12 in collaboration with a famous designer. It will be super expensive, limited and not intended for the likes of us but to introduce the brand to the rich and famous (which does include Akamatsu). Announcement coming in mid July.
If I get the new expensive LP12 upgrade, maybe I won't be needing the 360s. So it could actually save me some money. Maybe.I am at THE Show in SoCal today and a Linn dealer is exhibiting. I'd heard about all this and I understand supply will be very limited. My dealer said it's something that "won't be a concern for you anytime soon."
I will be attending THE show tomorrow, will be looking in on the Linn dealer ( presumably it is Shelley's?). Anyhow, I do question how Linn thinks their audience of a super $$ table will be ignoring the competition...from Basis, TW, Tech-Das, Brinkmann, etc., Many of these tables can accept multiple arms...hmmm.I am at THE Show in SoCal today and a Linn dealer is exhibiting. If Linn's celebration of the 50th anniversary of the LP12 is to provide a cost no object version of the LP12 rather than an upgrade that all owners can benefit from then I shall be looking to acquire a Helix 2 Mk3 turntable as soon as possible.Burberry! The announcement was pushed back to July 12th but an article on it and the 50th anniversary of Linn will appear in the Financial Times about a week before. It will not be in the 6 figure Oligarch level but will be affordable to the merely very well off (or very committed). Just think what number would go along well with the 50th anniversary.I am at THE Show in SoCal today and a Linn dealer is exhibiting. Hmmm. 20k more than a Klimax. I say around 10k more on the special plinth, badging, boxing, engraving, certificates signed by IT, etc. But that leaves about 10k on some sort of technical bonus? Wonder what it could be.The announcement was pushed back to July 12th but an article on it and the 50th anniversary of Linn will appear in the Financial Times about a week before. The 'rich and famous' bit was my embellishment but, as I understood it, the intention is to appeal to new channels who are followers of this particular designer. The figure suggested to me was $60k.
I can't imagine a new technical innovation especially if not intended for the rank and file LP12 fan, unless there will be a trickle down later. Even if there was what could it be, it has been discussed at length on this forum - not a machined top plate, not an aluminum plinth, not an arm upgrade and Exstatik is pretty new and pricey enough. IMHO, the next low hanging fruit is a better/more sophisticated suspension but not $30k's worth.
Maybe these will be plinths individually designed by the guy and signed??
Or, maybe there is a new signature arm 'The Daveyf edition'

LOL, I did discuss the possibility of a new arm with the rep at the show. No mention was made of a new arm, but the rep seemed to agree with me that it was long past due. ( he also reminded me that in Linn land, updates can take decades to come to light!!) OTOH, like you, I also got some info on the up and coming 50th Anniv table, and the price of sixty large was also mentioned!! I reminded them that at that price, the new SME 60 is in play, along with a Basis inspiration and some other superb candidates that can accept multiple arms! The 'rich and famous' bit was my embellishment but, as I understood it, the intention is to appeal to new channels who are followers of this particular designer. The multi layer plinth is supposedly one of the major differences....we shall see. But, personally at sixty large, i am not a player for this table....too many other superior (IMHO) options.
If it's going to compete with SME and similar decks, the new Sondek needs to lose a lot of musicality and focus on sound and details instead of music.
