Hello

I recently purchased a pre loved ds3 and i am really enjoying it .The Klimax sounds fabulous and there is no damage apart from some marks on the casework(please see attached) These marks do not penetrate the surface like a scratch , however there proving very difficult to remove. I have tried hot water and glass cleaner to no avail using a micro fibre cloth .Could you recommend anything to help ?
Cosmetically its just annoying as the rest of my equipment is in mint condition .Worst case scenario , is it possible to refurbish the case by Linn or would it be possible to take it to my dealer remove all electrical components and get it professionally repainted at a workshop thumbnail.jpeg

If you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, it needs to be repainted.
If you can't, try P21S car polish with microfibre rags.

Contact your dealer to liaise with Gilad T at Linn for a complete refinishing if they will still do it.

I had my Keltik Klimax crossovers refinished from silver to black as part of a large number of purchases of Linn products as a major upgrade in 2009.

I believe it was the first time that Linn agreed to do a refinish - at very considerable cost. It may have been a one-off sanctioned by Gilad, but you never know, he might agree to do it for you and maybe it's already been repeated since I had my units done. See my sig.

I contacted Linn and they do not do a refurb and do not recommend 3rd party companies to do this either . I will try a compound polish next week, failing that i may just have to live with it

@linntroika I know IanH had marks on a piece of Klimax kit from the rubber feet of another unit sat on top, and succesfully removed those marks with paraffin as I recall.

Given that Linn will not refurbish the case work for you, I would contact Sunbeamgls.

He has experience repainting casework and speakers.

As I recall , the casework is powder-coated at Linn. There are many companies that can do powder coating for you, once the electronics are removed. If you have a good relationship with your Linn dealer, I would think they could remove the electronics for you in preparation for the painting/powder coating?

There are other non-invasive solutions suggested above that would be my first choice if they work, and then powder coating would be my next choice.

The casework for black finished Klimax units is contracted out to another company. You're correct it is a powder type system.

In 2009, Linn used to wait until they had orders for 10 units to be coated before sending them all off to this other company to be coated.

I don't know whether this situation is still present today.

There is no point in just speaking to 'anybody' (including the excellent Colin in Support) for a 'standard policy reply'.

You have to have a dealer who has an excellent relationship with Gilad for your dealer to speak directly with him. This is how I got my Klimax crossovers refinished in black in 2009.

As mostly in life, you have to go to the top to get things done.
