Owner of a Linn Klimax Hub (2016 edition), I feed the Linn 530 series. I am interested in the new Selekt Edition Hub. Has anyone made a comparison?'s Musically, does the new reader bring anything better? Thank you for your opinions.
I think the Klimax Hub would out perform the Selekt Edition Hub, or at best, the Selekt would be a lateral move. For you, the real upgrade would be the NG Klimax Hub.
I would fully expect Utopik to be available for the KSH.
Does anyone have a clear sense of what the differences are between the Selekt Hub, Selekt Editon Hub and NG Klimax Hub (and the prior Klimax Hub, for that matter)?
I’ve read very happy reports of improved sound quality from a move to the NG Klimax Hub, but am curious as to whether we have any information about what might be responsible for the improvement. On the old forum, I recall a fair bit of discussion about the difference between an Akurate Exakt DSM or Hub and a Klimax Exakt DSM or Hub (before they were called Hubs, actually). If I recall correctly, the Katalyst upgrade give an Akurate Exakt DSM the same clock that was used in the Klimax Exakt DSM (or Hub), so the biggest differences seemed to be the Klimax billet case, with its benefits in vibration control and resistance to RF, etc., and the better ADC in the Klimax Hub. Do we happen to know what it is that makes the NG Klimax Hub better than the other Hubs? Again we have a new superior Klimax case, but are we aware of any differences in the clock or elsewhere? In a full DSM, with analog outputs, I have more of a sense of the sort of improvements one might find in the analog circuitry, but it remains less clear to me what the improvements would be in a purely digital product like a Hub (setting aside the ADC, which I recognize will be important to turntable users), apart from the clock.

I think we all await reviews from those who have been lucky enough to do these comparisons. It took a month or so before the various Klimax kit were compared and mentioned here. I'm definitely eagerly awaiting them.
Yes, I’m looking forward to the listening comparisons as well. But I’m also curious about what the differences between the various new (or new-ish) Hubs are in terms of hardware (and software/firmware, if any). Other than the visible differences in the cases, and the Edition’s headphone output, what is different?
