I know that the LAB12 driver was developed for the folded horn sub. The question is whether this driver it is the best option for a domestic tapped horn. Looking on the web, as ever there seems to be mixed opinions whether this is the best driver for the job in a domestic installation. What appeals is the foot print of the cabinet is small enough to have a triangle cabinet in the corner of the room behind my other speakers so taking up no addiitional space.

Its the dynamics of the heavy driver which concern me. I know speedy uses 15" LF's in slightly larger cabinets, and at the other end of the scale volvoreter has gone to 6.5" i think more for size constraints than dynamics.

Opinions/experience -please. ( info only need to go up to 70hz max)

You need to try modelling in Hornresp. I think it's quite hard to get the Lab12s modelling well in a tapped horn, so unless you already have the driver, you can probably do better with something else. Even other cheaper Eminence drivers can be easier to model as tapped horns. If you have space constraints, try designing the cab and then try a few drivers.

I ran a thread on Speakerplans forum on this subject ('Best driver for tapped Horn? - probably in 'General' category). What came back was 'whatever the designer of the horn specified'.

Always worth scanning that forum for info on horns/drivers/cabs. They know their onions, mostly.

I couldn't seem to get any of the Lab offerings to model nicely no matter what I did to the dimensions of the tapped horn and thus gave up on them.

Itd be worth revisiting the Lab thread to understand why Danley set the driver parameters as he did. On the face of it, it doesnt seem a sensible choice for a high eff horn bass but iirc the reasoning was explained quite well. That knowledge might then better inform its implementation in a TH or at least explain why it cant be made to work well.
