Also I want to give their Dac a shout out too. It's a ballsy piece of kit and after 8, years of ownership I found out it has a sense on it which acts like a tone control with real meat on it.
Useful with some recordings if you want more or less definition.

Yes it will be no stone too Jon. Mine sounds great and playing my 20 cd grateful dead box set as we speak.
I have had mine back since 2014 and used every day.
It's not just the sound quality so much as the reliability.
How many cd players have this type of reliability over 3 decades .

Apparently there have been some additional enhancements that are not mentioned on the website which they have been doing since 2020 so the website needs updating!

The OP stage was heavily deteriorated. Initially tested in current form, it was operating at approximately 50% of its original spec. Will be interesting on return

I really like the sound of this Jon. I would like to know what additional work is done nowadays. Probably bringing it closer to Epos level. Might send mine back for the hell of it.
I think the fact they are taking you through the repair process also shows quality workmanship.

Dirk is the engineer, communications are via Audio Emotion as I wanted the postage protection. They get a small margin of the cost but I’ll pay no more. New box I believe too.
I have a track lined up that I know inside out, played it on the cheapest system to one over 350k. Hans Zimmer, Run Free.

My guess is there will be a significant amount of burn in on your unit. Sounds like you are getting significant upgrades as much as a service.
It will be a new player all but the shell and perhaps the pro 9 transport.

On going saga tbh. They are useless at communicating and glad I did it via a dealer. Ultimatum was put to Restek last week. Watch this space..

You’re not alone Rockchild!…….sent my Consens pre ( p/exed with JANDL100 back in 2015 ) to Audio Emotion end of March for a fettle, passed on to Germany and wall of silence. Phoned AE numerous times, yesterday still no news complaining they simply don’t respond

It’s not AE’s fault but they are the dealer so there is some amount of responsibility.
I’ve given up. Restek don’t understand why I’m a bit upset waiting 6 months so far! Loads of excuses but I’ve said that if you can’t provide a service within a reasonable time, don’t advertise it. I threatened legal action today and suddenly I’ve had a load of emails but no apology, just excuses. The player is on its way back as I sent it. It will still out perform most £2500 players without the upgrades but I’ve moved on. Luxman on its way.

There lies the question after hearing the D-03X and D-07X a while back, I debated wether the 7 commanded so much more ££.
Yes, it’s build is better and has various advantages but I’m going to do a side by side again but I can see why the 3 has so many positive reviews. I can’t afford the 7 and the outgoing 5 isn’t better than the 3 so I will ultimately end up with the 3.
I like the digital inputs as well so I can run my streamer through it.

I’ve been very happy with my 03x. I’m not sure just how much better a cd player can get? I do think about the 07 and whether I would get any benefit from the player? But it’s a big jump in price, and not something I’m considering right now.
when I bought my amp I was offered the 07x at £7500 but on top of the price of the 509x it was just too much to stretch to.

They haven’t got enough trained engineers apparently so I’ve told them to stop advertising the service. Going via the dealer was the right option as I get the protection if things go wrong. It will be sold on return. Shame, it’s a good player. Having the upgrade would be endgame. Maybe when they are fully staffed next year, someone else can do it

A lot of firms cut their staff by 20 % during lockdown and haven't reemployed .

I think a lot of firms may not survive or flourish as before, moving forward.
I guess it remains to be seen but I don't feel so confident as before with Restek which is a real pity as I know their quality for making audio equipment which imo is ahead of the game.

Retirement and finding someone to carry on the work. I’m a fair person but most of the excuses have been different each time they eventually responded. You cannot advertise a service if you cannot do the work. It’s misleading. If I had been lent and Epos for the duration, things might have been different
