It looks like the amps that Linn is offering at the moment are a dead end exept for the Selekt cartridge. However this cartridge is not powerful enough, I prefer at least 200 watts with my Harbeth. I won‘t invest in Klimax, Akurate or Majik Power amps. What power amps are you guys with passive speakers using at the moment?

I have to agree some way as Linn amp's are dead for me too.
I’ve no interest in digital streaming or all the SO gubbins I have an analogue set up that does the job.
I have a Naim Supernait 3 integrated now after many years of Linn LK boxes then Majik when they died now they don’t offer an analogue system now so it’s the deck only now.
Klimax LP12 @Kandid level.

Well my system is all Linn except for the Harbeth speakers. I have a Selekt Classic Katalyst and a Akurate Level LP12. If you want a more powerful amp however, there‘s no offering from Linn except for the amps that are obviously a dead end.
So do you think Linn is giving up on proper power amplification besides active speakers?

I have used Rotel amps into my ProAc Tablettes for 20+ years and they have a synergy that suits my listening preferences.
I treated myself to some Keilidhs for no other reason than that I wanted to have something else to play with as I'd retired. I don't like the sound of the Rotels through the Linns so, again on a whim, I bought a Technics power amp and the Keilidhs now sound much more satisfying, to me at least!
If you are buying new, take your Harbeths to your dealer and see what they can come up with. If you are buying used, it's a bit more hit and miss.
We can suggest endless (almost!) alternatives but ultimately only you can decide what you like. It's not always predictable which components will have the synergy to make you happy with your new system.
Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

I would buy an used Klimax Twin or a pair of used Klimax Solos. They are a real upgrade and cheap at the moment like all the other Linn second hand stuff.

Yes, that would be my suggestion as well.I would buy a used Klimax Twin or a pair of used Klimax Solos. They are a real upgrade and cheap at the moment like all the other Linn second hand stuff.![]()
Those amps perform very well, and at least as well or better than most of the competitor's amps on the market in their price point. The Solos are still a superb choice
I think Linn will be releasing a new line of amps in the coming year

All we can do is speculate what Linn is doing. So do you think Linn is giving up on proper power amplification besides active speakers?
Their focus does not appear to be on the audiophile hobbiest at the moment, but that could be because they have put a lot of resources in revamping their upscale Klimax lineup, with the Klimax DSM's, Klimax Organik Exaktboxes, 360's and LP12-50
Linn's Utopik power supplies could form the basis of a new line of amps or upgrades for existing amps and other components.
Linn's 50th anniversary year is not over yet, and there may be some surprises before the end of the year. Rumours include new Selekt level speakers and replacements for the Majik level speakers.
Linn was job advertising for people with expertise in amplifier design.
Well thank you all, it‘s probably best to wait at the moment.
I'm using Klimax Solos (with Klimax Kontrol pre-amp) at the moment. I very much doubt that I'll change them but, if I did, I would expect (especially when Utopik power supply upgrade becomes available) I would be able to do so with very little financial cost (they were second-hand to me).It looks like the amps that Linn is offering at the moment are a dead end exept for the Selekt cartridge. I do not see used Twin Dynamik on sale by monthsI would buy an used Klimax Twin or a pair of used Klimax Solos. They are a real upgrade and cheap at the moment like all the other Linn second hand stuff.![]()
There are 6 for sale on UK eBay today starting at £2900 GBP. I bought mine 12 months ago for £1500 GBP (non Dynamik). They are available at reasonable prices (at least in the UK) if you are patient.I do not see used Twin Dynamik on sale by months

Although the 'copy and paste' info in the ad for the £2,900 Twin does talk about 'Dynamik' power supply, the pics of the bottom don't confirm this because the end where that info is is not shown clearly enough .....
Not saying that it is not Dynamik just that the pics don't confirm that which they usually do. The £3,100 one is non Dynamik.
There are some Mark Levinson 33x power amps on eBay at the moment. Nothing to do with me but tremendous performers and when you're not playing music you can probably use them to jump start your car!!!

Option 1: Twin weren't there
Option 2: there was but I did not see Twin.
It’s funny that Linns amp are considered dead end technology whilst 90% of the competition including Naim builds its amps around same formula; a big transformer with other tiny bits held together with big pieces of wire, albeit bend in a straight line FWIW.
No Spark, SMPS, Dynamik, Utopik or SMD
I’m not saying a Linn amp is the end off ore you should not wait for Linns newest latest and greatest but the only others I can think of who are innovative on the field are Primare and Lyngdorf.
Just judge the amp, regardless of which era of technology on its own.
