Very interesting...We may find this annoying but Linn do improve the products during the lifespan - without informing in MK1, MK,2 etc etc. A Majik M109 speaker from 2016 is way better than one from 2011 as an example (different supplier of the speaker box being one difference here but never written about).

We're a bit off topick here but nevertheless. Their danish supplier of the boxes (at least for Majik series) went bankrupt. Not excactly shure on when i was but 2015/16. At this time it was possible to buy some finished boxes extremly cheap but they did not have any wrapping and lacked the final finish. The new box is slightly lighter and stiffer (by knock) and I noticed when I swapped pair due to outer finish. The newer boxes are less shiny and this can best be seen on the black finish (same as newer plinths for LP12 ar not shiny but better presentation of the wood grain).Very interesting...
Topic: Casing for amps must surely make a difference as vibration control is important - just do an experience with support for the electronics. Likewise Radkal in Klimax casing is clearly better than Akurate but the internals are the same.
I spoke to a person close to Linn who was also invited to the 50th anniversary. He told me that there are no developments of new Klimax-type power amplifiers in the immediate future. I wanted to ask if he also meant any updates for the Klimax amplifiers in production but I didn't ask to him because I understand that he can't say too much.
For what it's worth and in reference to the original post, when i updated my system i went for a klimax twin but i was very, very tempted by an accuphase class A amp (can't remember the model).
With respect to Linn's amps in general i fully expect (and have done for a long time) that apart from the klimax amps all the separate power amps (akurate and majik) will eventually be discontinued.
We'll have the exaktbox i, power amp modules for the selekt and aktive speakers. Perhaps power amp modules for a new majik DSM when it gets revamped.

And possibly in a decade's time will only be a high-end company for the wealthy oligarch market ? Long term cull of everything except the current Klimax level kit. 2033 Linn catalogue very slim volume = LP12 + Klimax Speakers + Klimax Streamer. Each costing £100k, but if you buy all three they will give you a free bottle of scotch.
But then how long does the "immediate" future last?I spoke to a person close to Linn who was also invited to the 50th anniversary. There have been rumblings that we may see more products in a Selekt housing, such as amplifiers and crossovers. These would also look in place next to the current Majik.
I wouldn't be surprised over time if all old style Majik and Akurate casework goes away with even units like the standard Radikal moving to the new style casework. Certainly from a looks standpoint it just makes sense.

like Linn's "coming soon" for the new utopiks!! No one knows, maybe not even them!!But then how long does the "immediate" future last?

I, for one am happy that Linn is not upgrading the amp just for the sake of upgrading.
Perhaps they are waiting for a big upgrade in sound quality before the push to a new product?
Pure class D for the next Linn reference amplifier??

It’s passed. But then how long does the "immediate" future last?
It would make more sense to me if Linn focused on active speakers. There is so much choice elsewhere for power amps and passive speakers, I struggle to see why they would think they can compete.I, for one am happy that Linn is not upgrading the amp just for the sake of upgrading.

I do realise, however, that lifestyle buyers who like the Linn brand might think differently, but I’m speaking as a Hifi enthusiast and I’m unsure what proportion of Linn’s sales are attributable to enthusiasts.
"lifestyle" is one of those English words that is unfortunately widely used here too. I understand "lifestyle" as something that has style (nice container) but without real quality (content). You (not only you)may not like Linn products but generally I don't think they lack quality. The investments made by the company in the quality of their products are known, then clearly nowadays you also have to have style. Just look at the car manufacturers.

Like the Linn Series 3 speakers, for example. And like a Linn Klimax DSM driving Linn 360 speakers, for those with deep pockets.
‘Not lifestyle’ would be like my system, with no two boxes the same make or finish.
I was looking to replace my Klout for a while. My 8ohms 86dB speakers were making it suffer noticably. I was really ready to move on from Linn after the Akurate dismiss. I was (and still is) really pissed about that move.
At the Montreal audio show I remembered liking different Japanese products, like Esoteric, Accuphase and Luxmann, but I couldn't stand the price doubling up from the Japanese price tag. You get what you pay for in the end. So I went on the dealer road to listen to products. Some I heard at audio show and wanted further listen, some after reading review about them.
I listened to products from Hypex, Moon, Naim, SoulNote, Norma, Hegel, Bryston, Ayre and PassLab at different dealers. All in the 8-12k USD price range. Bringing my speaker almost all the time. Quite a ride.
The last dealer I went to also plug in a Akurate 2200. I immediately recognize the sound I loved. Transient are beautiful, nothing is exaggerated (PassLab and bass...), the attacks are present without being agressive (Naim...), it was lively (unlike Norma and Moon), it was musical and tonally accurate (so not a Hypex or a Bryston), not fatiguing (like the Hegel), but not as powerful as I wished (like the SoulNote, great product otherwise).
So I went used and bought a pair of...Solo. Updated to dynamik 10 years ago. It's all I wanted my new amp to be. I hope they'll last me for a while, but with the money I saved from buying new, I can afford the repair if something happens.
So I guess I'm in "another dead end". And happy about it.
Now if Linn can release the Utopik for the Solo and give me a 5 years warranty I would be euphoric(k?) about it.

I don’t see how Linn amps can be a dead end because they have upgraded the power supply (dynamik) and could probably do so again with utopia.
I would be very surprised if Linn didn't release Utopik for Klimax Solos. So does one get a five year warranty refresh for a power supply upgrade? That would be sweet. Now if Linn can release the Utopik for the Solo and give me a 5 years warranty I would be euphoric(k?) about it.

I just remembered one more bit of potential good news for you. In speaking with a dealer, they found that the most profound improvement due to Utopik in the Selekt was in that equipped with power amps. That's what they did with the Dynamik update.
Yes. I remember that the Dynamik was very noticeable in the amplifiers. Honestly, I only marginally noticed the change in sound in the CD player.I just remembered one more bit of potential good news for you.
