Linn At The Wam Show 2022

We'll be in Room 221 at the Show in Stoke, the first weekend in October. Not yet sure of the speakers, but the rest of the system will be:

So the speakers are sorted.

I'll be using my semi-DIY speakers which I've dubbed Koto Audio Ninkasi (an entirely made up non-existent "product"!).

Ninkasi is the Mesopotamian goddess of beer, which feels entirely appropriate for this show, and is obviously a play on the Ninka that provides the cabinet. Koto is an Asian stringed musical instrument. Mid-bass drivers are from ScanSpeak with Tweeter and SuperTweeter from the Linn Majik range (in a far more fetching shade of black). There hasn't been time to re-finish the cabinets, so they'll be in their less than perfect Maple patina.

They can be run as 4-ways but I'll be using the 3-Way Exakt Filter option with the mid-bass drivers sharing one of the 3x Tundra Stereo 2.5 power amps.

Hope some of you can drop into Room 221 and say hello.

The joy of Exakt Design lets you do anything. That allowed the 2K to radiate without the skoop? For those of us unable to attend, how close to Ninkas are they?

They're tighter than Ninkas, faster if you like, but they don't go as deep. Vocals are not much different, the treble is also much crisper but some might prefer the 038/2 for the same reason that some might prefer the 2K. I've had them in the system for 2 weeks now and enjoying their joie de vivre.

Oh, and 2K is MUCH nicer in satin black

The two scanspeaks can't go as deep than the originals? Couldn't you Exakt them down to whatever you wanted?

No, it doesn't work like that - you can push the filters to an extent, but you can't make a driver do what it physically can't do in the box its in. There are limits. Plus, if you ramp up a bass amp too much, it can go into run-away at the lowest frequencies, which is not good.

Hi Neil, had hoped to attend this year (with the Sonus Faber cremona M, Sonus Faber Musica amp and KRDS but have had to move from North Berwick at very short notice 2 days back to North Yorkshire. Maybe next year?
