For sale, my Linn Axis turntable, one owner since new, this was purchased around 1987/88 from Audio Counsel, Manchester and it comes with the original box, Linn Basik Plus tonearm and cable, power lead, two cartridges (including a spare Rega Elys), spare belt and accompanying booklets.

The deck has had the benefit of recent improvements including:
  • drive board refurbished/power supply updated
  • capacitors and resistors replaced
  • light service
The power supply work and service was undertaken by Wilkinsons Hifi in Nelson, who have developed quite an expertise in Linn Axis repairs, this comes with a lifetime guarantee on the drive board (https://www.wilkinsons.tv/home/hifi-repairs-2/linn-axis-lp12-turntable-repair-info/).

In addition, the deck has benefited from
  • tonearm removal, testing, re-installation and set up, by Peter Swain at Cymbiosis
  • new cartridge and stylus installed (Audio Technica VM95E), this has fewer than 15 hours on it.
The Linn Basik Plus tonearm is the original purchased with the deck. It had approx 18 months on my LP12 before being examined, passed and installed back on the Axis last year by everyone's favourite Linn TT dealer, Peter at Cymbiosis, who fitted the new cart at the same time.

The hinges are good and support the lid unaided, likewise the belt is fine. Both are Linn's own (but are not the originals that came with the deck). I've cleaned the lid with Fairy and hot water, it's come up a lot cleaner (why didn't I do that before?) but I did not apply specialist products and some scratch marks and clouding remain (see pics). Can demonstrate, answer questions or provide more photos and/or video of it working.

In summary, this is a rarely seen Linn Axis that has a clean bill of health, is good to go and has everything in place to set someone up for years to come. Price at £400 for collection from Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. Happy to facilitate transport if you're too far away (eg via WAM taxi, or I'm driving to London in a couple of weeks passing M1/M25 Heathrow en route). Even though it comes with its packaging, postage is best avoided. 20230128_140213.jpg 20230128_140249.jpg 20230128_140049.jpg 20230128_135815.jpg 20230128_141236.jpg 20230128_142434.jpg 20230128_135745.jpg 20230128_141121.jpg 20230128_141432.jpg 20230128_140301.jpg 20230128_140330.jpg 20230128_135943.jpg

Bump - good opportunity for someone starting out on a vinyl journey or moving up from their 1st or 2nd deck to something worth staying with for a while. Ready to go and with a clean bill of health.
