When I open LMS control panel and from there open the web remote control it can take an absolute age to open the web console: I am talking here about times in excess of half an hour. LMS is loaded onto my C drive. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to speed it up?

Cant you just right click task bar icon and right click open web control from there? Also make sure library isn't scanning - bit obvious i know. Likewise Norton etc. plus make sure your PC and network firewall hasn't updated or changed and might be disallowing application access.

Otherwise just reinstall you current version of LMS/Squeezeserver - I keep a downloaded exe file on pc, - just in case. All of your settings, favs etc (bar 3rd party apps) will remain in tact.

I have LMS set to run on startup and I think this is the main reason for my slow start up time of approx 5 minutes from powering up, logging on and everything settling down.

I checked a few start up programs and disabled them as it used to be 10 minutes or more.

Someone on here advised me that I had far to many processes runninng in the background and this prompted me to take a lok at start up programs.

How quick does your pc start up without LMS running?

Pete, sounds like you have pc issues .... did you check no of processes etc?
Yes, dumped many of the start up programs. Acronis made a big difference in not having it start on start up. Not sure what else to stop though as I always use LMS on start up so I have it run automatically.

I suspect many of the Windows updates which I previously allowed have nobbled the PC. Now I only update the MicroSoft Essentials Security.

I always used to find WinPatrol good for cleaning up crap on PCs, not used it for a few years though.
