Looking for Dynaudio contour 1.8 mk II near(ish) to me or ideas

HI All

I am looking at hearing/buying Dynaudio 1.8 mk IIs within 100 miles (ish) of north wilts. I have also thought about PMC FB1 + or i's. Anyone? any other similar classy floorstanders I should be thinking about. I fancy a change from my MA Silver 8Is. Looking for more realism and a solid bass. I like the quality of the real matched veneer on my MAs so would like equal or better build quality.

Want to move up to "big boys" speakers....

Sorry wrong Linn amp I was muddling with the 80 - that said the 1.8s still demand strong/articulate amplifiers.

Yes there in Scotland. Well worth it, and a big step up from your M/A. I heard mine at a Bake Off and bought them from Brian (take 5). Search for West Lancs Bake Off for comments and photos. I had Dali Suite 2.8 , the Audiovectors are on another level. I wont be selling mine.

Yes I've seen you guys on the Wam loving these ......If they were 100 miles away I'd prob go see/listen to them .....

I've had Contour 1.8mk2's and they're superb speakers. Bass is particularly deep and punchy (with the Krell amp I had at the time). As others have said, they need a fairly powerful amp to drive them effectively. There is also a slight 'thickening' of voices through these speakers (compared to the 1.3mk2's).

2ndhand hifi has a pair in ... a bit dear in rosewood but seems to have a dent on one of the rear edges in their video .... they are also faded (common in real wood veneer speakers of a certain age) ...Simon is going to have a look for me. What's making it worse is I've found an old promotional Dynaudio DVD showing round the factory and all design an manuf process which I've just been watching. As regards power ... I wonder if you can bridge LK140s .could keep an eye out for another one.

The pair in the dealer classifieds - Midland Audio Exchange - look decent! Your LK140's will have enough current to drive the Contours (without bridging).

Been into hi fi since I was young kid .... but have not had the bug for quite a few years now until recently. So I guess my salary is down the toilet every month for now until said bug clears up. I don't get it .... adults who should have more sense.
