Can folks give me a few recommendations? I like small set jazz and really like stuff recorded live at a venue if you know what I mean

I use Qobuz, no plastic disc recommendations therefore please !

There are lots fortunately but not sure of your taste, most ECM albums are well recorded although most are studio recordings.

I will dig some out. Not sure if these are what you are looking for.

I did at one time go through most of the Village Vanguard recordings, there are quite a few, some artists have 3 or more albums there.

Hadouk Trio - Live at Fip

Junko Onishi - Live at the Village Vanguard, said to the best recording at this venue.

Brill thanks I'll have a listen tonight.

ECM has some amazing stuff on there. I've been using the  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ECM_Records_albums

Wiki discography and pasting each album into Qobuz and saving it. It will take me a long time to hear them all!

It terms of what I've heard that I like, the below have been superb, although not all are live recordings.

I'm always astonished how some amazing all the below sound considering how old they are, they sound like they were recorded yesterday!

If you're after live recordings then try these (I think they're all on Qobuz)

  • Jazz at the Pawnshop - Arne Domnerus
  • Live In Larissa - Nat Birchall
  • Foursight - Stockholm Vols 1 & 2 - Ron Carter
  • Live at Club Mozambique - Lonnie Smith
  • Alive - Grant Green
