Funny. Some folks think cables can't possibly make a difference. Likewise footers. Etc.......
Well someone please tell me how removing the lid from my LP-12 so improves the sound. It does. That makes no sense to me at all. But I do hear it.
And if it helps, audiophile friends hear it too.
Makes no sense.
Thoughts?

The airborne vibrations (sound) impart their energy onto the lid. This vibration is then transferred to the plinth, which is coupled to the top plate. Somehow, these vibrations negatively impact sound quality. A thin and rather flimsy object with surfaces shaped as sound boards would do rather well at picking up sound vibrations.

Think of the lid as a sail on a boat. The lid responds to the air movement/vibration and the energy has to go somewhere, and somewhere is down into the body of the turntable.

I get the sail analogy if the lid is up while playing. But then, what would be the point to that?
But when it's down while playing, it's a stretch for me.
