Saw some truly excellent acts at the festival yesterday, but the real surprise of the day for me was Clare Teal. I'd paid scant attention to her work until now but yesterday's set with the Leeds big band was utterly spellbinding. She has it all going on: sublime voice, fantastic control and timing and such a profound sense of musicality that I was quite blown away. Top moment of the set? A cover of Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars. 800 + people in the marquee but as she sang even the well oiled and noisy idiots fell silent. It was utterly spellbinding.
