Who knows the model name of that old Mission standmount whose design Robin Marshall (Epos Daddy:love:) had a hand in? I faintly remember Mission putting out a deluxe veneer standmount about a decade ago? Would it be that one?

Heard a pair of refurbished Mission 780se last week, and they aren't bad.

I'm wondering if there's any collector's value to be had in a Marshall-tweaked Mission standmount...

Leonard's Marshall had better not enter the luggage business. Those boxes can't compete with Louis Vuitton.

Jeez, try goggling Mission and Freedom and all sorts of PC gaming tips come up.

It most certainly can. This new 4x12 cab is £350:

This 2 piece Luis Vuitton set is £2260:

I think you'll find Marshall are considerably more competitive than Vuitton, and noisier!

Marshall amplification are just a mile away from where i'm sitting at work.

Amazing that a local company is so renowned the world over - Aston Martin too.

750LE - was meant to be a special edition to commemorate Mission's 20th Anniversary, but came out late.

I've just been informed, by a renowned ex-Mission designer, that as far as he remembers, Robin designed other elements of the 75 veneer series, but not all. He was also involved with designing the 700 and 73 vinyl ranges.

Only as far as I'm informed, so if wrong........... my apologies

SSM, they followed the £250 750LE (below) in the mid/late 90s and replaced it with the newer model £300 780 in about 1999 or so.

In 2003/4 they brought out the £350 780SE with an even nicer veneer and driver tweaks:

All three were really nice speakers. The 750LE starting off the look. But I don't think they command a SH price premium. Mission have rather lost it since then, the 78 range being the last really nice stuff they made (IMO).

Ta for the info.

The 750/780's modern aesthetics still look great imo. More my taste than gaudy Sonus Faber style. The 780se sound nice too. Not looking for a 750LE now, but thanks for the trip down memory lane. SS

Odd you should say. SF are relatively similar style. Black leather baffles (like the Mission 77 series) and usually maple/light wood sides/back. The Missions more sober looking, less romantic. Either way, I think the Mission 750 and 78 series look beautiful. I have a pair of the 782 floorstanders which are some of the best crafted floorstanders I've come across. Short of B&W 800s or SFs you're not likely to find better.

Thought you were doing B&W 603 so didn't really look at your speaker profile.

[PC-mode] Gorgeous Cremona Auditors you got there![/PC] :gag:

You are right. The contours of Mission 780 and those of SonusFaber&other Italian waffles are similar in respect. I still prefer Mission's choice in sombre baffle colors, they look more "business-like" and it is enough to make the overall design quite distinctive in mood than a SF.

lol no need to be PC. You don't like it you don't like it. Was just noting that vaguely speaking these Missions and a number of SFs share some basic styling ques.

Some nice sscintillating's you got there too!

If your after missions forget your leather coated bondage speakers, you want a good old fashioned BIG SQUARE BOX.
