Hello.

Whilst aware of all of the recentish-hype surrounding the meerkat animal, I remember in 'mid-dish' 1970s seeing on TV (we mercifully - to the advantage of analogue audio - had only 3 TV terrestrial channels then) a fantastic watched-by-most-UK-inhabitants programme about them.

Now there is no trace anywhere of its existence.

Earliest mention on web of UK TV meerkats is usually 1987-ish Attenborough 'Meerkats United'.

Does PLEASE anyone else remember a UK TV prog. re meerkats c. 1973-1976???

Many thanks for the reply - including the links on your appreciated help, I still cannot find any existence in the world pre-1986-7 of TV meerkats ...

Thanks for advice - shall warily attempt to go straight to the cat's maw.

Although over the last few years, I-a few others have found BBC to be atrocious at replying appropriately.

C. 15 years ago one could ring them up nationally-locally/write to them/receive definitive helpful written hard-copy replies.

Now - - -

Must be something to do with protecting abusers.

Nope! Nobody on web remembers Meerkats TV UK broadcast in c. mid-1970s ...

Thus does history vanish/re-invention opportunities exist.

Before we know it, vinyl will be re-invented to carry digital processing.

Neat programme on greedy-whilst-plebs-peasants were murdered Faberge BBC4 last night.

Thanks - I almost know what you mean about memory, but I saw probably-1st-ever-Meerkat thing on UK tellie with others in mid-1970s when we were in Somerset.

... VERY oddly enough, in mid ..... I was also simultaneously in Africa, and should have fimed the darn critturs myself ... (but no vid. cameras back then, apart from very expensive commercial-pro ones for movie-makers).

Thus is history deleted.

I have had no career in Korea, apart from Samsung/watching stuff on tellie.

And my chorea.

I confess that in recent weeks though that I have been watching TWAWar yet again, and am reminded how we learn to forget.

People with whom I saw this 70s-remembered transmission of 1st UK Meerkats prog. also remember this - I have not seen these peeps since 1978, so I am right/web-digital as often is inaccurate.
