Meridian 208 CD/Pre. Can it still cut it?

I'm close to potentially purchasing one of these (original packaging/instructions and remote) and having had a good chat with Kevin (Auralflea), I'm almost sold. Thanks Kevin. Appreciated

I have a budget of £200 or less but is there anything else (better) I should consider?

Heard great things about the 208 as a CDP but Kevin did warn me about lack of service parts for these. Maybe suspect reliability? I'm intrigued to try.

Need something better than my current Rotel and would like a tank of a machine for Christmas.

Thoughts appreciated (good or bad) as the deal needs to done (or not) tomorrow.

I had the 207 CD/Pre which was a superb machine. I only swapped it for a 206 as I needed a digital output, which I still have and which has very similar mechanics. The mechanism has been very reliable, the only thing I've had to adjust was the CD clamp, and which was very simple to do. If you can getnone for that sort of price go for it.
