Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to post pics and tell us your first impressions.
Interesting development. They delivered the speakers by just dropping them off at the building entrance (inside) and left, instead of taking them to the door, my wife couldn’t take them up, so after work I did. However, one box was missing (my naim streamer …), interesting they knew exactly which box to steal. So, i ll update further on the missions vs linton listening test once i sort this out.

So, first listening impressions. The 770 are very different as expected than the Lintons. Much sharper mids and highs, much rounder bass. Very precise, revealing a lot of background noise of some old piano recordings. The vocals are articulate, very holographic. The base is tight. Rock music sounds awesome, jazz and classical less so because its missing a bit of musicality, the rounding off and the sweetness, which is a matter of taste. Piano keys are flat, matt, whereas on the lintons they are round, shiny. Will keep listening and report second impressions soon.

As my old mum used to say - if you cannot say anything nice say nothing - I am saying nothing ;)

Were they open box or store demo? They might need running in.

Have you sorted out the stolen Naim streamer yet? Hope the dealer's being helpful.
Yep, DPD came back with the box today, they forgot to deliver it with the rest of the items. Let the listening begin.

so, day 2, the missions are coming to life! @TIU you were right, they needed some hours of burn in. Everything is sounding less edgy, sweet, yet with enough detail, and the bass is excellent like on day 1. Now, going back to the Linton, having compared the cabinets, the Linton s have a sense of hollow, whereas the mission cabinet barely resonates to a knock knock test. Explains some of the softness/echoing I always attributed to the Linton s. As far as looks, they are both wife proof and almost identical, the Missions being 2 tones darker. The gold accents on the Linton s give them a nice retro / chic touch, it not a big deal. The stands of the Linton s are better looking and quality, but they come in separate two boxes the size of the speakers themselves, so I understand why the mission s come with a simpler stand that needs to be assembled. Back to the listening.

Great to hear. I wouldn't get away with grilles on at that height - two moggies would love that fabric

Nice to hear the Naim streamer has been located.

Really pleased also to have some feed back on the 770 in the home as well.

I built a few speakers with different drivers and definitely some do take a while to loosen up. Treble and bass response are often the areas that benefit the most from this process.

Looking forward to hearing more on how they settle in.
