Modified RB300 arm loses sound in one channel - easy fix?

I have an AO modified RB300 arm that was working perfectly on my Rega Planar 3 TT.

I swapped it onto a Systemdek IIXE900 and just recently it has developed a fault. Sometimes, not always when it is first used there is only sound coming out of one channel (it's always the same channel). A quick wiggle of the AO tonearm cable near the arm seems to cure it, so I guess there must be a bad connection (probably damaged by me when swapping TT's).

How easy a fix is this or do I need to be returning to AO to sort it out?

A long shot, does anyone have any Systemdek armboards (original) as I'm looking for a teardrop Rega mount (I think they came in different materials and thicknesses)?

Cheers

Iain

Send it to J7 and let him do what he does best. Swapping an arm shouldn't result in a failure like you describe but of course you do have to be gentle with them for various reasons.

Depends how confident/capable you are with a soldering iron.

Certain to be a poor connection somewhere, but trust me you need a very good illuminated magnifier, very steady hands and serious patience to do arm wiring. Plus a suitable soldering iron. Lack any of those, and you will inevitably damage rather than fix. It's not complicated, but it's very, very fiddly.

Guys, having exchanged a couple of emails with j7 it's going to be sent back to him to give it the once over.

Almost certain it's a breakdown in one of the phono plugs or cartridge tags but I'd rather let someone who know what they are doing sort it out.

Iain, sending it to J7 is the best option, I would not attempt this when he is so good and is reasonable in his pricing. Doug

J7 - top chap.

Arm sent on Monday by RMSD.

Phone call on Wedesday to say arm had been serviced, sorted and given a clean bill of health and was being returned FOC.

Genuine person and would thoroughly recommend him for any work you ever need on tonearms.
