someone will come up with a newer better way and safer, where eBay and paypal are not needed

Sorry, I have to disagree as without eBay I could never have sampled so much gear - a degree of common sense should make it as safe as most dealers

Charges are high but hey - where else do you get such a wide audience

I agree. Everything and anything you can possibly think of....it's on eBay. It has revolutionised thebuying and selling ofsecondhand, rare and weird goods. I'd be gutted if eBay disappeared! There are wankers, liars, cheats and scammers out there but if you use your brain then exposure to such will be limited.People think it's eBay's responsibility to protect the outcome of every transaction. They just couldn't do that, it would be impossible. There is a risk and you have to take that onboard.

eBay as a rule works really well considering the trust factor.

I recently though was paid by paypal sent the item only to have money withdrawn by them 7 days later...The item was paid using a nicked credit card.

Address was unconfirmed so i wasn't covered.

Spoke to someone at paypal who said nothing we could ,but still charged me 4 per cent as well as losing item and money...Hopefully the item screws up ...If any of you are selling beware of unconfirmed address. That is the only one i have had trouble with and luckily it was only 90 quid.

cheers.
