BBC to launch five new HD channels

The BBC has announced it plans to launch five new high definition channels by early 2014.There will be HD versions of BBC News, BBC Three, BBC Four, CBeebies and CBBC.

They will be available over rooftop aerials via Freeview receivers as well as satellite and cable services.

The news coincides with regulator Ofcom's announcement that is making it possible to launch a total of 10 new HD channels using airwaves freed up by the switch off of analogue TV.

news has made me very happy as just bought a HD Freeview tv for my room (modest one, 39")
That is a very small room.

:minikev:

Seriously though; this is welcome news.

I just hope quality isn't compromised to squeeze these extra HD channels in.

This is good news fer me too, I've been happily using an Icecrypt T2400 HD-PVR with 2TB drive installed for over a year now. Previously had Topfield PVR's which I loved for their functionality, but the last one which upscaled standard def failed 4 times inside 2 years & was a complete POS. :td:
