I'd bet my thomas that it's because they made four attemts to make the worlds best CD player, regardless of cost, and it was only on the most recent attempt that they produced something worthy of contunuing the mantra of excellence that has hitherto been the X Ray CDP range

HiFi Trade?
  1. Yes
By putting the PSU for all of the boxes into a separate case, MF have managed to squeeze in even more of their trademark fresh air!

What do we reckon? Re-boxed A3.5 components?

I have it on good authority that the picture is spot on

I hear a tuner is also to be launched and that the amp has a valve stage built in.

Just when I'd got settled I find myself strangely attracted to the new boxes

About three years.

It looks nice IMO, especially the amp. Still not a patch on the original series though

Morning gsrai. Am listening through my X-A2 now as it happens. Sounds brill. And my room is pretty awash with electric blue

And I'm long overdue a Springsteen session! That goes in the 'diary' for tomorrow methinks! Shame but bed most definately calls now.

Interesting. This has been due for a while - the v3 range ceased actual production a while ago; it was only introduced spring-summer 2004...

I like the look of the new kit (Gobind - are the side panels really silver/grey?), but no better than the v3 (which I prefer to the bean tins...)

Having owned every item in the v3 range I have to say not only was it not good enough for the money, but it could so easily have been better - I've spent the last few months upgrading the internal electronics throughout my system, and the rise in performance, for little outlay, has been hugely gratifying - MF could so easily have made the X-series v3 giant-killers...

Wonder who'll be the first "V8" owner?
