Naim Arrivas

Hi , Just wondered your opinions on Naims entry level speakers....

The Naim Arrivas.....Any good ?

Just for Rock & nothing else - used with Nait5i & cd5i

I dont really care about imaging & soundstage so no worries there !

wanting to know if i can get away with downgrading.....

They are a good speaker but a bit bloomy for my tastes. As I am into the naim sound my preference would be for SBLs (at around 700 no probs)

I really dont want to - Just everything i want to buy has just come onto the S/H market & i just dont have the cash for it all so it must come from somewhere.....

I remember reading a review in HFN about2 years ago. They got a very good wrap. Especially the bass was excellent and very taut, and they can't go too wrong with thatring radiator tweeter. I haven't heard them myself, but they'd certainly be on a demo shortlist if I were in the market for a floorstander.

Naim speakers have had a bit of a bashing on here. True the company hasn't got the same reputation for speakers that it has with electronics. Never heard the arrivas but did hear the Allaes on the back of a 202/200. Thought they were ok but the tonal balance was not up to the Dynas which have a reputation for matching with Naim gear.

I heard the Arivas a while back andseem to recall that I preferredmy speakers at the time (Bose 901) to the Naim. The Bose had better bass (in my opinion).
