I've been reading that glass is not the best thing to put a TT on,at the moment mine is on a 6mm toughened glass shelf. So i need a bit of wood about 355 x 465 that will fit on my old target hifi rack . I know that the wall is the best place to mount a TT but that's not possible at the moment. Does anybody know the cheapest way to go about this ? I have been looking at big thick chopping boards that i can cut to size,as of yet i have not found one big enough.

Any other suggestions appreciated. Thanks:^

B&Q will cut MDF to size. If you like what you hear then you can commission me to make you a shelf out of any wood you like, even though different species will change the sound!!

There are different densities :geek:
Different density does not equal different species

There are different "densities" of Wammer, but they are still Wammers ;-)

Why not try putting wood block under the TT feet and see how it sounds , may work may not but worth a try ?

Two main subspecies which boils down to Runts & Cu**z although whiny, tin foil hat, stubborn/bloody minded, feckwit, tosser are pretty much interchangeable between each category.

This has been remarkably restrained, I am waiting for the "I always wake up with wood" comment
Well, up to now it hadn't been mentioned, however................

Hi Martin,

Best to try it out and see what you think, i have some off cuts of oak veneered MDF at 26mm but am busy until Mon/Tue next week but will gladly cut you a 355 x 465 shelf, i don't want anything for it but you will have to pay for postage, i will put a coat of oil on it and veneer the edges. Just pm me.

VB Si.
