Well enjoy it! It's been 30 years since I ditched my LP12 and vinyl
I fondly remember those times.

While its in bits why not bite the bullet and fit a brand new Karousel then it should be bulletproof for a long time.
German belt belt sounds like aftermarket just keep it real and avoid the pitfalls.

Is the Hercules compatible with the Karousel? I know a Valhalla isn’t.While its in bits why not bite the bullet and fit a brand new Karousel then it should be bulletproof for a long time.

Thank you Troll
Now that’s a proper Sondek, with a fluted afromosia plinth. That’s not to say some of the modern ones don’t look great, but this is the original to my eyes.
While I would love to go with the Karousel, it is not in the cards (budget). Also from my understanding the Karousel would also require a change in the PSU. I know there is a kit (Mose) to move the Herc to it's own case, but again it all comes down to budget. Small steps.
I too was temped to mention Karousel. But my word, you just got the thing and we are already spending your money on improving it. It will sound great as is. Upgrades? All in due time. While I would love to go with the Karousel, it is not in the cards (budget). Also from my understanding the Karousel would also require a change in the PSU. That's kinda my thought. Gotta keep the wife unit happy.I too was temped to mention Karousel. But my word, you just got the thing and we are already spending your money on improving it. It will sound great as is. Upgrades? All in due time.![]()

Yep, you’ll find we’re very good at spending other people’s money here. The important thing is that you get what you have setup properly and enjoy what it does, otherwise it’s very easy to find it disappointing and move on to something else. Upgrades can come with time, but the most important upgrade is an expert setup. That's kinda my thought. Gotta keep the wife unit happy.
That is what I have been told, and why I am having it professionally setup for me.
Agreed. But I would ditch that belt and get a proper Linn one. I imagine Steve will bring that up.Yep, you’ll find we’re very good at spending other people’s money here. Well I am back home from a day in Phoenix with Steve Carroll. He went through the entire build and corrected a couple of minor issues and identified one non-Linn part that was used. It seems the top plate is a Vinyl Passion Orpheus piece. Not an issue, just a difference. After several hours of 'tinkering' he christened it as good to go. While I knew what to expect cost wise for the setup, I also knew I would find a few things I wanted to change. LOL. I did get a Linn belt as was suggested here, a new Linn mat, and I opted to add the Trampolin 2 base. My wife went with me, and was a trooper spending the better part of the day twiddling her thumbs so to speak. She wholehearted agreed with me that it sounds fantastic. While I was there Steve audition the table with the standard Linn mat and the Collaro mat. The Collaro really sounded nice. Unfortunately they did not have any in stock, so I will have to order one. Let the spinning begin.
