I’ll be taking delivery of this original 1977 LP12 in a few weeks. Think the lid is the only non original part. It will replace a Basik I have and I will be getting the Akito tonearm transferred from the Basik to it. Once set up, I’d like to enjoy this deck ‘as is’ for a bit, just to see what the reputation was built on. I’m sure I’ll buckle to the inevitable upgrades over time! I’m guessing Cirkus and power supply…….

Very nice, it’s fairly unusual to see one in such, near, original condition. The plinth looks lovely and it’s amazing that the mat hasn’t disintegrated. You’ve mentioned the lid, the arm board also isn’t original, just FYI. Enjoy your journey.

How can you tell, about the arm board?
Primarily, because it’s cut for a Linn arm. The Ittok didn’t make an appearance until two years later. My memory could be failing me though. I think, and again could be wrong, that they still came with a SME cut armboard at that time. I’m sure my first one in 1980 did, although I bought it with a pre owned Grace G707, so didn’t keep the armboard it came with.

I recall the 1975 arm board being of a different material than the Cirkus version. I did go from the Grace arm to an Ittok, but don't recall any issue with the arm board. All this did happen more than thirty years ago, so memory is a little fuzzy.

I'm thinking the OP could have a "thow down" Cirkus sub-chassis and arm board installed at time of first dealer servicing. I would think it would be an improvement over pre-Cirkus. But I'm not sure about what bearing fits what sub-chassis.
