NHK Symphony Orchestra

I am very curious about a number of CDs I have come across featuring a range of conductors with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, mainly on the King label. There are quite a few, they are pricey, and not readily available to sample on the likes of Spotify or Youtube. I have also found very little details on them, not even recording dates etc.

So, what say the classical wammers? Any experiences of these?? What is the reputation of the NHK Symphony Orchestra?

Ah - Matacic had a very special way with Bruckner.

I saw him in concert several times at the RFH back in the early 80s.

And this is the first ever CD my Audiolab has refused to play :doh:

The 10 year old Pioneer DVD player doesn't mind it :dunno: I'll dig out my Sony DVP 9000ES and give it a spin on that...

Several if not all of these Denon CDs were mastered with pre-emphasis; could this be the ptoblem?
