Even at the risk of being banned from this forum for blasphemy :p :

Does anyone here have experience with

a) (non Linn) room correction

e.g. Dirac Live with a miniDSP DDRC-24

and/or

b) (non Linn) digital crossovers

e.g. Behringer DCX 24/96 or a miniDSP DDRC-24 (which can also serve as a 2way digital crossover)

Of course there are SO and Linn Exakt boxes, but SO is not available for older Linn equipment and Exakt boxes are very expensive and limited to a few speakers.

I've used JRiver DSP Studio with a non-Linn system (part of JRiver Media Centre). You can use its Parametric Equalisers or create a convolution file for it. It can produce good results.

I've read JRiver can create a digital crossover, but you need to synchronise the timing on your DACs. Seems possible, but afraid it's beyond the scope of my brain.

I did work with someone who used DSPeaker (if my memory serves me well it was one of these https://www.dspeaker.com/anti-mode-8033) to tune his subwoofer - only heard his system once, but it sounded very good.

Roon offers fairly comprehensive DSP too…
I have never tried Roon’s DSP. I have tried to get SO working in my room, but my system always sounds better with it turned off. My SVS 3000 sub has Parametric EQ and I can tame the bass with this. I will give the Roon DSP a try in the coming winter months although I don’t feel my room has any big issues to resolve.

I have used electronic crossovers for quite some time and different digital ones the last 20 years. For the moment I'm using AExaktbox-10 passive 350´s and Exaktbox sub with 2 Paradigm Servo-subs. I just started so I have not meassured all registers seperately but i was curious about the sonic benefits of FIR-fillters. And I believe the Exaktboxes are very good despite the limited possiblilities. Many believe Apple is a locked in enviroment but this is far worse for someone coming from filters like BSS or Bohmer Audio.

I have tried SO and I’m not using it. I’m a strong believer in measuring and personal fine tuning. I have used SMAART and REW. And my measurement is not very close to SO’s result. So far, I have not seen any possibilities to make my own filters for the ExaktboxSub but I might have missed something. Although it is possible to put a filter after the ExaktboxSub I certainly would like to avoid that but maybe it is not possible to avoid it. I will measure more this week, but I feel the interface for any other sub's than Linn’s or Rel’s is almost nonexistent. Timing for the 350’s is excellent but for the subs I’m missing fine tuning and room correction of my choice. Conclusion so far: The 350’s with Exaktbox are extremely good, ExaktboxSub works in a very limited way. With room corrections it is rather difficult to know when everything is as good as it gets. But I would still try out every possibility to use the available options including SO.
