Norah Jones "Come away with me" distortion ?

On the Norah Jones cd "Come away with me",,

The first track "dont know why" , is there a slight high harmonic distortion on her voice about 1min10seconds in , on the line "you'll be on my mind" ? it seems to be more prominent on the left channel,, either that or somethings up with my gear :nerves:

Some recordings have bad distortion.Mary Black -By The Time It Gets Dark is another.

To check if it is on the recording or a problem in your system it is best to listen with headphones.

I noticed this as well when I bought my first set of B&W speakers. Then I noticed it on all my other systems as well.

It did make me wonder if I shouldn't try and improve my hifi anymore. Obviously more listening tests with different music taught me the right path to take!!

what would you call interesting ? it was norah yesterday, king crimson "thrak" the day before, today some earth wind and fire,,,,

Yep it must be on the master because it's also audible on the vinyl version.

Only you can hear it more clearly ;-)

Actually, I've been aware of that distortion for a long time. I find it strange that it's there - considering the album's use (by some) as something of a reference.

But then again, if your hi-fi can't pick out the distortion on that track then maybe it isn't transparent enough. :mrgreen:
