The price is what normal ones with nice grills, covers and not painted in some horrible paint. £200 over priced at least. You would have to strip the cabinet down and then strip the paint off. Not worth it, may as well buy some nice ones for £600.

Really? Do the NS1000M's fetch less than the NS1000's?
And the difference between them is.....?

The M has speaker covers (the wire things over the bass unit) and always comes in BLACK. The non-M usually is non-Black with a nicer wood covering. That's it.

Or a rubbing coil. Overpriced and with the potential of being faulty.

M's were the pro monitor version. Non M's the domestic version. You can extrapolate from that the M's may have had a harder life and that the non M's are rarer.

The M's are very different apparently from what I have read, same drivers but smaller cabs and I think I read the cross overs were a little different, so they sound different too.

I always thought they fetched around the same money , though. I didnt notice the upside down driver, if whoever repaired (if thats what happened) them cant get the driver in the right way around god only knows what else they didnt get right.

The ns1000 has a thicker cabinet, underneath they are essentially the same as ns1000m but with an extra layer of pretty wood around them which makes the outside dimensions bigger. As such the ns1000 weigh a fair chunk more than the ns1000m.

Have a look on thevintageknob for further info. I understood the crossovers were the same .

Both ns1000 and ns1000m can have fabric speaker grilles but they are a different design. Iirc the bass driver on the ns1000 is sans metal grille.

The ns1000 generally attract a higher price probably due in part to rarity and part they are more domestically acceptable due to some pretty wood.

I saw these before I won my ones for £550. Obviously, if you follow my thread you will see the bad experience I had with my seller (and stupidty on my part) but now progress is being made on the cab refurb and the tweeters are on their way to Germany to have the voice coils re-wound.

I've seen NS1000Ms in not much better shape go for £900 on eBay in the UK.

About 8kg/cab, which makes quite a difference when you're lifting them up the stairs at Scalford.

Correct again. Yamaha have different part numbers for the two bass drivers. I don't know if this just reflects the presence/absence of the grille though.
