I could just stick this in the music section but I know some of you don't post there that much for whatever reason . So my question is really based on is there a go to album you play for the road late time at night . I tend to go for Floyd or any Waters / Gilmour solo effort . The comfort in knowing an album so well is that even if you nod off you can always join in later .

Are you saying that when picking an album to listen to on a late drive home you should pick one you can fall asleep to??

Now that I live in a flat I have to keep it quiet so whereas it used to be Floyd (which really needs a bit of volume) I nearly always finish with Melody Gardot either Entre eux deux or Sunset in the Blue. A last Blair Athol and a cigarette I'm sorted.

Doesn't get played as often as it used to, but this has long been my 3AM album of choice: Do Make Say Think (self titled - their first album)

or possibly the first Tortoise album

this would naturally depend on the precise state of one's brain chemistry at the time of selection - a much less variable factor these days....

I can recommend this for clearing out any stragglers when you just want to get to bed - Brainticket Cottonwoodhill :)

King Crimson Red perfect for the M1 or M25!!

If I was driving through France Spain or Portugal then some Gilmore or literally anything at all as driving in these countries is so much more pleasurable.

It depends what I've been drinking.

After a few gallons of beer, I'll be supping off to the Macc Lads.

After a bottle of Irish whiskey, I'll be marching to the Boys of The Old Brigade.

After bourbon and a few spliffs, it's gotta be Willie Nelson.

If I have too much of any of the above, I throw up to The Sex Pistols.

I think the reason might be that people just stick threads like this here.

Or you could just say nothing and judging by what you think to be a funny response preferable .
