I'd be inclined to agree re the PSU (if I knew how to make one!) but the supplied items would get you started.

Yep, and it would probably sound very nice from the get go in stock kit form, but a linear psu with enough current delivery to meet demand isn't that hard to build, pcb's are available from peter daniels on diy audio which are a very flexible design.

Just taking another look at the website, buying the components less chassis and PSUs (saving US$170), adding a couple of linear PSUs, and fitting into what boxes I have handy is quite an attractive idea.

I'd be tempted to have a go with the components/PCBs and my own PSU/chassis as well, there are some small discounts available for orders of 2+ and 4+ if you were thinking of ordering.
