Budget of £400 max

What stages should I be considering?

looking to improve the Brio R phono stage - although it sounds very nice at the minute but would like to see if it can be improved!

How about a Trichord Dino? Whats the difference between the Mk1 & 2

Thanks fellow wammers

Would you consider second hand? If so, you could easily get a Dynavector P-75 within budget, which would obviously go well with your cart.

Sorry but I think there are better MM stages out there

The DV-P75 is excellent in Dr. T mode with a low output MC cartridge

Dino 2 outperformed the 1 in my system, and big improvement with NCPS.

I would recommend the P75. It mates very well with the Dynavector LOMC carts. It may be slight overkill for the 10x5, but you will be set 'good to go' when/if you decide to upgrade.

Would I not have this with the Dino 2 if I decided to a Low Output MC? Just i have seen a reasonably priced Dino Mk2

Sorry, I've not heard a Dino. I have read many favourable reviews, so I doubt you will go too wrong with it. It has user selectable settings for different carts. If you see it at a good price, go for it! You won't lose much, if anything, if you decide to sell it on.

Gone for a used Dino Mk2 at a really good price - so I can pass it on if its not much of an improvement over the Brio on-board one. (which I doubt)

How fussy is it with placement - heard about the hum? tbh it hasnt put me off!

I got some initial hum with my Dino MkII. The acrylic case, though good looking is not helping with additional shielding.

Moved it about 60cm away from the poweramp and the hum went. It's a bit finicky with wires crossing over nearby too, causing some minor noise but that was easily fixed too.

If your placement is well thought out in terms of what goes where and you have your power cables not crossing IC's or against them, it should be fine. Just play around with it...
