Going to revenner my speakers soon and wondered what finish is prefered, i like all 3 but whats the thoughts of others. Veneer will probably be American black walnut.

Im a sprayer by trade ( although i dont pull the trigger much these days being stuck in an office) so any of the 3 finishes i can do.

so Matt, Satin or Full very high (glass like) piano finish?

People always like to see a bit of wood, so I'd go for the one that shows the Black Walnut to best effect (high gloss ?).

toyed with satin and matte for various projects on the boat, but nothing beats a lot of coats of nice shiny gloss for revealing the best in wood grain IMO.

The satin walnut on Sonus Faber speakers was very nice indeed.

Love all the flavours to be honest, but the hi gloss is a bit more of a challenge may go for that. i would use an Acid catylist 2 pack clear coat about 3 good coats rubbing flat each coat then rub the last coat with 2000 wet and dry then do a 4 stage polish. Would look really deep and very very hi gloss.

think i just talked myself into that then :)

I went for Matt with just a light waxing on my Js. Matt or light satin is more forgiving and will age better IMO

I would think gloss would be best but does mark easily , satin may be a good compromise as I think matt could be a bit dull and flat looking ,sounds a great project
