So Britain has its youngest men's champion this year since 1962 - Paul Drinkhall, 17.

Who says he wants Olympic gold.
shock.gif.7732780fe7e208b945ce79ca96402fca.gif
He would be 18 then for Beijing and 22 for London. Perhaps his chances are best in the latter. 18 is too young.

The depth of the world circuit may be too much for him. iirc, there hasn't been a British world champion since 1951.

Must see what Ladbrokes is offering on a Drinkhall-London2012 deal.

Ping pong is more suitable for you than squash, imho. Less stress on the kneecaps because you'll have 100% court coverage without needing to lift your feet.

Thats true. In fact if I stood to the side, I could play myself.

I'll tee them up, you hit em.

Bizarre true fact: I used to play this game quite a lot, and was even adequate at it...

Considering that you are quite a talented scribe and that ping pong has forward and reverse penhold grips, the association is obvious.

btw, what is this urban legend I hear that the golden orb in the Prince of Wales' crown is actually an anodized ping pong ball? Is it true?

moi aussi, it used to annoy me when peoplereferred toit as ping pong. Most also thought that fitness was not necessary. When played at a high level, fitness is a key factor in bringing success.

Fitness is indeed present in top-level pingpong.

I've noticed that the legs of the male players especially are much more impressively carved (and muscular) than tennis players. Reckon that has to do with the demands for quickspeed sideway darts from left to right. You don''t see the chicken legs found on many top 20 male tennis players.

oops, both Drinkhall and Rumgay (nice name:D) sent crashing out of the second round at European TT Championships. Bye bye Britannia.

Looks like Dutchie Trinko Keen could steamroll all opposition.

Congrats to UK's Paul Drinkhall who captured the Spanish Youth Open title yesterday.
cool.gif.9d6c72c555b38e519336a6d9b55ca875.gif
He adds to his Canadian Stag Junior Open in April - making it a perfect 2-0 record

for these two youth world championships he has competed in 2007. And this qualifies him for a place in the World Junior Circuit Finals in South Africa (the pong equivalent of tennis' year-end ATP Championships)

Drinkhall is now #11 on the world youth rankings (highest was #7 in January)

Well done, boy.

Most ping pong ladies don't look good during a tournament match. The use of no make-up and those black granny hair-pins to tame the hair flat, impart an illusion of premature aging. And then there is the flourescent stadium lights reflecting off that green-blue table onto their faces.

A few, do look nice on and off the table, like cutie-pie Ai Fukuhara.
