Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this, but what's the different between a (active) pre-amp and a dac/cdp with variable output? - provided both has the same output impedance?

To my understanding, a pre-amp take care of impedance matching, but let's assume a power amp has 100k Input impedance, what's the difference between putting a Dac with 300 ohm output impedance, and a preamp with the same output imp before a power amp? both the pre and the dac variable can output from 1->5V too

If I get this right the preamp take care of impedance matching, but then what's the point of matching the same output impedance of a dac/cdp to the very same output impedance of preamp?

On the same topic, what's the difference between an integrated amp, and a power amp + passive preamp? Does the pot of the integrated amp not attenuate the same signal in the case of pow + passive pre?
