Dear Expert,

I recently pick up a pair of ProAc Tablette II from used market.

Tweeter, Driver & Box condition is good, but not the crossover, i have noticed there are 2 either capacitor or resistor (i don't know) was corroded.

Please help me, is it necessary to replace this ? where can i get the value of the resistor/capacitor ?

Thank you for your help.

Kenny

Looks like an overheated resistor. You could buy a cheap multimeter to measure its value, and then buy a new pair, perhaps at a slightly higher wattage rating. There is a possibility that the resistor could have changed value, in which case you would need to either contact the mfr for the actual value, or try to do a web search for the circuit. Maybe falcon or wilmslow may have come across these, and know the stock values.

Before doing any measurements, remove the part from the pcb,so that it does not interact with the other parts and you measure the wrong value

If that's a white, powdery substance that feels like sugar it's down to the loudspeakers being stored in damp conditions.

It might well have attacked the resistor casing but the actual wire inside appears intact. Measure and see what you get.

Do both crossovers and compare.

Thank you guys for the input.

Yes it was the ceramic resistor overheated, i found this XO from the net, similar to mine.

Should i replace with 10w instead of 5w, or any other audio grade resistor ?

Cheers, Thanks.

I would just get another pair of ceramic resistors. You could go for a higher wattage, but at normal levels 5w should be ok.Standard parts from RS Farnell should be fine.
