Well the best-known I guess would be early Floyd, Beach Boys, Love, Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Deadetc., but if you like it a bit grittier 13th Floor Elevators'"Easter Everywhere" is my top pick

- never got the recognition they deserved. Pink Faires ditto, though proggier...

All the big-name boys got on board too - Doors, Beatles, Stones, Bowieetc. Pretty-much datelined 67-71, though there are plenty of exceptions.

:goodone:V fond of Hendrix, Airplane (Surrealistic Pillow, After Bathing at Baxters'), The Dead (Live Dead, Anthem of the Sun)& Floyd myself.

Arguably some of the early days of prog were quite psychedelic: Van der Graaf Generator's early stuff (68-71, Aerosol Grey Machine, maybe H to He, Who Am the Only One); the Canterbury scene, esp some Caravan (Land of Grey & Pink).

I'd also consider some "kraut rock": Amon Duul II; early Tangerine Dream (Atem, Zeit, Alpha Centauri); early Can; Neu!; Faust; that class of thing.

For £5 you can't go wrong with the Nuggets compilation for a starting point - it may make you spend much more money though.

You could also check out the Love, Peace and poetry compilations (each volume focuses on the psychedelic music of a country or a region) - I especially enjoy the Mexican Psychedelic Music volume.

forgot to say I know about the main stream/big artists, was after stuff lik eyou mentioned there, 13th floor elevators etc, that nuggets compilation looks good as well so I'll give that a punt at a fiver.

Went to a PFM (Italian prog rock)gig once with some college friends,our beer was spiked with "White Lightning",don't remember anything about what happened after that.Although when I went for a piss in the morning,looked out the bedroom window to see an Elephant on the green across the road.

Hi, i'd suggest trying Ten Years After and Argent,also for something different there's a Temptations compilation called Psychedelic Soul with tracks from the late 60s and early 70s which is pretty cool.
