Quad 405 ; can I use only 1 channel as mono amp ?

Hi . Can anyone help . I wondered if I could use just one channel of my quad 405 , ie use it as a mono amp ? Will this damage the amp if one channel is not used ?

Also is it possible to run 2 rca plugs (stereo ) into one XLR ( mono ) ?

You can use it as mono. Don't run stereo in to a mono xlr.

Thanks . Is it possible to get 2 rca to mono ? Am wanting to run a cd player into a mono pre ? Any ideas would be apreciated .

Get a pre with a mono switch.

a matching quad 34 would be ideal for this purpose as it has a mono switch.

I'm doing exactly that by using a small portable CD player into a Leak Point One mono pre-amp. I built a simple passive combiner using two 4k7 resistors.
