released in 1990 and still a favourite album of mine sounds as fresh today as it did back then and each song a gem , considering its relaese date and this been a debut and nothing at the time sounding similar surely a sign of a classic ?

Kennedy is a now a fully established recording artist but in my opinion has never bettered this debut album , the album is very melodic with a mixed sound of early van Morrison , Tracy chapman and a little talk talk throw into the mix for good measure , yep a strange mix , but it works wonderfully Kennedy has a very distinctive and unusual voice and a range most female vocalists would die for

perfect late night listening that sucks you right in , give it a go available on spotify !

oh and the quality just happens to be superb considering the popularity of brash digital production of the late 80s early 90s

opinions please

I like "Captured" but most of the rest sounds a bit "samey" if I'm brutally honest. Enjoyable enough, and, as you say, good production. Not a classic, though, sorry.

I first heard Brian Kennedy about 20 years ago when a woman I was seeing had an EP with 'Carrickfergus' and if I remember correctly a cover of the Tom Waits song 'I Hope that I don't Fall in Love with You' which I thought was certainly a different and quite well done version.

This album is totally new to me and I did listen all the way through, but towards the end I was losing interest very quickly, I just find his voice annoying, there is only so much dripping saccharine one can take, I am afraid this album is almost instantly forgettable.

Just gave the songs that quick preview thing they do on Amazon, gotta say bloody awful but each to their own and all that.
60 sec bursts of mp3 it will be :)

as you say and very true as with all music " each to there own " that said most tracks on the album are over 4 mins long so not really sure 12 intros account to a good listen , unless of course your musical preferences are a world apart .
