So, I've finally got my Lenco L75 into a plinth, up and running... and thanks to a bit of a miscalculation the platter is a little too low to allow proper VTA, even with the arm at the lowest point. I'd like another 5-10mm if possible.

At the moment I'm using the standard Lenco rubber platter mat. Mats I've looked at seem to be 5mm thick at most, would there be any issues using more than one mat - and if so are there any suggestions? I'd prefer not to butcher the plinth to lower the arm if at all possible.

Stacked platters with one of the spindle extensions that are sold on LH for about £ 40.

Not only would it solve the VTA issue but also sound and look better :)

I would attempt a bodge with an acrylic platter. The height of your spindle is a limiting factor but I am sure there must be something out there. The Rega platters are 9mm?

Tried a glass Rega platter, the issue is that the spindle cutout is too big so it's impossible to centre the record. Maybe a different platter would do.

The purpose made Lenco spindle extension will allow you to fit pretty much any depth platter or mat that has the same size mounting hole.

Can you not shim up the arm board/mounting?

 Sorry, wrong way round! Is there a way to lower the arm board?

Why not put some washers between cartridge and head shell?

I have some brass ones which assist with vibration transmission.

I wonder if it's possible to move the main bearing so that it's on top of the chassis/top plate rather than underneath it? That might raise the platter up by 5mm or so. Can't quite recall the shape of the bearing housing though so whether it would sit flush on top.....I'll have a google later.

Update: Nope. I think you'd have to widen the hole which is probably difficult to do and generally undesirable! Stupid idea actually :)

There are platters made for other turntables with a standard hole. Systemdek platters would fit the bill I think.
