Looking to pick up one of the above to separately power my Dac’s analogue section.
Originally was going to pick up something around £500 (Farad or the like) but wondering what billy bargains are out there in, say, eBay DIY audiophile land?
Still looking into more spoendy options, just need to do some research and justify if it will bring improvement,

Loads on the likes of AliExpress. But prefer UK sellers/ builders to avoid hassle.
what you guys using?

need 3A or above.

Thanks.

Tony Sallis at Coherent Systems builds some ultra quiet PSU's. You can configure whether you want 12v single rail or a PSU to power two different components.

I bought the QP-1 in a 12v dual-single rail format. One output powers my TP-Link router and the other, my EtherREGEN switch.

Totally silent and very well made in the UK.

Sbooster but hard to get used ones, although the 12v maybe easier.

Still looking for a 5v one.

I did come across this which maybe of interest: https://audiobacon.net/best-audiophile-power-supplies

Temple Audio Supercharger.
Made in Manchester.
I have the 9v version for my Sotm 200 ultra.
Better than the Sotm Sp 500 I had and better than the 9v tap on my Kecces P3.

Had a nice chat with Tony @ Coherent Systems,
nice guy, obvioulsy really knows what he's talking about and crackin' product, but the added cost of a DC cable kinda tipped the budget over a bit for me.
Sorry Tony! :)

Ended up pulling the Trigger on a Farad 3
https://www.faradpowersupplies.com/#features
This PSU was my initial go-to, but being a Scot thought about doing it on the cheap!

After some thought though, as I do, I thought it best to "do it once, do it right".
The point of modding my Directstream Dac was to get the best out of it and clean AC Power can make all the difference IMO.

Ah well, job done.
Thanks guys for all the suggestions.

Cheers
Gaz.

12 Volt DC for a DAC - easy -

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yuasa-SLA-...=1659298550&sprefix=yuasa+12+v,aps,135&sr=8-2
Available in numerous capacities and easy to recharge. Batteries have absolutely zero interference from household supply of course and a DAC uses very little juice, so battery is the obvious and inexpensive answer. Get one that will power your DAC for a week or so of normal use and recharge when necessary overnight. I used to run a power amp from 12V batteries and that used a lot more juice than a DAC.

You are right about batteries isolating the noise in the ground plane but when I tried about half a dozen power supplies for my Qutest, including a battery, the battery came quite low down in terms of sound quality. There is more to a power supply for a DAC than just isolation and hence why people spend a lot of money on good power supplies rather than just use batteries.

I'm not challenging the results of your comparative tests, but would like to know why a pure 12 volt DC supply from a battery (with no connection to any alternating current) can be less good than even the best PSU supply that is continually fed by alternating current. It's the physics I'm confused by! Thanks. Peter

There is a long thread on audiophilestyle where it was attempted the build the best ever power supply for the Dave DAC using batteries but this was topped by a Sean Jacobs LPS, see here. It is quite interesting.

Low Drop Regulators used to be a thing, buy a modest linear PS a few volts higher than needed, then regulate down. This can sound excellent. It was a thing over at AS, with one of the guys going off to manufacture. Maybe the PS makers cottoned on and incorporated or it just ceased to be a thing?
